Anti- Inflammatory Life – Prevent Diseases – Promote Longevity

If you’ve checked out the ABOUT section, then you already know i’m currently enrolled in the IIN on a journey to become a Holistic Health Coach. I find that our ability to heal ourselves is one of the greatest super powers we have. In order for us to use it to our best benefit though, its helpful to know a little more about how our body reacts to what we consume.

So here I wanted to share with you one of the things I learned so far that i’ve made sure to take note and add to my lifestyle and diet in order to promote a healthy disease free life.

First lets talk about inflammation

Most of us are familiar with inflammation on our skin and it can be easily be seen as a  our body becomes attacked and fights back to help heal and rebalance itself.

However, we tend to not think so much about inflammation that happens inside us. Or at least I didn’t.  After learning a couple of things about it I realized maybe I should.

We are familiar with Chronic diseases though, for example : Cancer, Parkinson, Alzheimer, .. And when we think of these we usually cringe a little at the thought of ever becoming diagnosed with something like that.

What’s interesting is what causes this diseases, the root,  is inflammation of the body. What happens, is that anything that up regulates or intensifies inflammation in the body, simultaneously increases cell proliferation which increases our chance of developing diseases like Cancer for example.

Inflammation can be caused by a couple different factors:

  • Genetics
  • Stress
  • Environmental Toxins
  • DIET 

There are certain foods we can consume that can reverse inflammation, and bring balance back to our body thus preventing us from getting sick, especially as we age.

These are a couple ingredients and foods that highly aid in preventing un-necessary inflammation: 

  • Turmeric
  • Olive Oil ( without being heated)
  • Ginger
  • Dark Chocolate ( at lease 70% cacao)

One thing to keep in mind is that Omega-3 Fatty acid helps reduce inflammation. So anything that contains Omega-3 would be good to consider. 

The first rule of an Anti-Inflamatory life would be to stop easting the foods that create inflammation.

This includes processed manufactured foods and anything that contains a high amount of sugar or that spikes blood sugar fast . This is because:

Spikes in blood sugar —>  Abnormal reaction between proteins and carbohydrates —> Inflamation
